Dr. Shin received Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from Michigan State University in 2015. She is currently an associate professor in the Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management at Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. She has served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Department of Food and Nutrition at Inha University, Incheon, South Korea (2019–2026). She also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health, Food Studies and Nutrition at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, USA (2017–2018). Prior to her appointment at Syracuse University, she held an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND, USA (2016–2017). She completed her dietetic internship at Michigan State University in 2016 and is a credentialed Registered Dietitian (R.D.) in the United States.
Her research interests are exploring food consumption behaviors in relation to chronic diseases; dietary patterns and health risks at the national and international settings; biomarkers and predictors for nutritional status in large populations with emphasis on subpopulation groups at risk; and national and international nutrition surveys and their applications in research.
